Idiom
(1) “A bitter pill to swallow”

當我地想同人分享訴苦時可以說: "This extra workload is a bitter pill to swallow, I'm working 12 hours every day!''

做老闆的想表達開源節流等措施真的別無他法是last resort,就可以說,“When the company is facing such a crisis, I have no choice but to bite the bullet. I hope you all could understand and accept this tough decision.''

想讚揚這類人我們可以說,“Look at that man over there. Can you believe he started as a door man and barely spoke any English? He attended night school and with the help of some seniors he climbed the corporate ladder. Now he is the general manager of this five-star-hotel.''

(4)“Please keep it under wraps.”

Sorry I couldn't have told you anything about that deal. Not that I didn't trust you, but the boss told me to keep it under wraps.''

(5)“Drum up the business”

如果臨埋數round up前仍與target目標有一大距離的話,大家便要諗諗計去drum up the business.

Drum up the business解拉客搵生意,當中可能有打電話tele call,送贈品等等。

Sales have been low lately. I know it's not a peak season after all, but have you considered drumming up the business by making a few phone calls to you old customers telling them you are giving out complimentary gifts?"
